Humphrey

The latest creation to emerge from the Emma's Bears Studio is 'Humphrey'.

I had planed to give him big fluffy, chubby cheeks... but in the process of trying to scissor sculpt this fur - it became obvious that I wasn't going to be able to get the look I wanted. This fur is incredible - but a PAIN in the behind to work with. Very silky, with lots of different textures and not quite as dense as it looks. So we opted for the close trim and a big rounded nose.

We used some silver-grey faux suede for his paws and put a bit of time into pulling each toe and giving the whole area a good dose of shading.

The shading behind his eyes seemed to make them 'pop' a bit more too - giving him a kind of startled look. (especially in the photo below. It looks like you've caught him doing something naughty and he's surrendering!).

Humphrey is currently available on etsy and bearpile. He is a one of a kind artist bear. (we had intended on making him as a limited edition of 3 - but after the challenge of making this big guy, we've decided he will be it! - if you're interested, we have the left over Humphrey fur available for purchase here).
