Pink and Green

I had a bit of fun with some experiemental mohair dyeing again recently, and ended up with two pieces of long pile mohair in a soft floral pink and a rather vibrant lime green.

The pink was lovely. But the green was a little brighter then I had imagined  it would be. But I decided to see  how the two colours would work together.

This little lady was one of the resulting bears. We've called her 'Sweet Dreams' after a variety of small pink rose. She stands in at 14" tall and is actually made in our 'Lyric' pattern, just reduced down to 85% to give us a slightly smaller bear.

She's currently available in our etsy store.

And this little lady is 'Hydrangea'. Also named after flowers - this time a little less obscure. I found an example of the flowers that inspired this bear through a google search - I love the way all the individual flowers make the ball shape.

Very much like this bear's head!

Hydrangea is also currently available in our etsy store.

Melbourne

I was fully expecting to be uploading photos of the newest bunny pattern in mohair this time. But I got side tracked! I had just enough mohair left over for a little bear - and once I got started I couldn't stop.

Meet Melbourne:

I ended up decorating her with some over-the-top girly accessories, as it just seemed right. What's a pink teddy without a bit of lace, ribbon and feathers!

Melbourne is available for adoption. She can currently be found on bearpile.

Georgina

This is my latest, not-so-little teddy bear. Meet Georgina. She's huge - standing in at 25". I had to double, and triple check because I didn't think she was going to be so long! I had designed her to fit the gorgeous size 1 baby dress she's wearing, but even at 25" tall, she a bit small for it...

... so the story goes that Miss Georgina found herself with an opportunity to try on her big sister's favourite dress. It was a little too big for her, but that didn't stop her accessorising with her mum's favourite string of pearls as well. At least she didn't get as far as the make-up box before she got caught! Just look at that sorry little face!

Georgina is currently available for adoption either via bearpile, or she can be found on my available page. I hope you've enjoyed visiting her. She has been really fun to create, and I think it shows in the finished bear when I've had a positive experience making them!

Chelsea's Room

I think I might have posted some photos a while back, just after we moved into our new home, of Chelsea's room. Very conveniently painted in a stunning shade of lavender with a darker purple feature wall.

I'd been searching around for something complementary, feminine, and not too babyish to decorate the feature wall with. I wanted it to be something she could grow with without being too embarrassed to have friends around when she's older.

I discovered some wall sticker designs and decided that was the way to go. After quite a few weeks of short listing designs, I ended up going with these guys from etsy - Surface Inspired.
I chose a design that started from the top of the wall and cascaded down, as I know how 'busy' Chelsea's little fingers can get when she's curious and didn't want the sticker picked off as soon as I stuck it on.

This was the stickers as they arrived. The instructions said to lay them flat for a few hours before applying. I had no surface that was safe from being trampled on by Chelsea's busy feet either - so decided they could flatten out while blue tacked to the wall.

This morning I got to work sticking them up. First the branches. I will admit I underestimated how tricky it would be - but still managed to do it! And I did it all by myself, while keeping an eye on a destructive 15month old!

Then Chels needed a sleep, so after that we cut all the flowers and birds into their individual components and started applying them. Once I got the hang of it it wasn't too bad. Just incredibly time consuming. I think the whole application probably took about 4 hours.

But how awesome does that look!!!!

...and this was the free 'tester' sticker - I think it looks pretty sweet in the entrance to the bear studio too. :)

A bit of pink for your saturday...

I had a little play with Booth's pattern to see what would happen if I greatly reduced the width and length of the head gusset, and Acorn was the result.

I was actually quite happy with the head shape I got from this small change. It gave her a very distinct little face, with a high and proud forehead - and just begged for smaller ears to stick out from the top like they do!

Despite the nice differences in Acorn, I think I still like Booth's look though. Acorn is a little too close to my standard bears in looks. I really want something startlingly different.... I'll just keep playing!

Acorn is on bearpile and etsy. (and again the same applies for this little lady - if you really want her, and don't want to miss out I'd recommend buying her through etsy).

I need YOUR name suggestions!

This is the finished Baby Girl Bear. She still needs name suggestions - so bring them on!

Latest project needs a name

So this is a sneak peak of my baby bear's little face. I've given her a softer look than some of my previous baby-bears. And her mohair is just to die for! She just needs a little outfit (i get to go shopping for her this afternoon!) - then she'll be ready for photos!
Would love suggestions for names again.

Name suggestions needed!

I really need some super sweet, pretty girly name suggestions for my latest bear. She's white, has a sweet pink nose, rosy cheeks, butterfly paw pads, a fluffy pink tutu and a sparky beaded necklace! She's as girly as they come - so bring on the suggestions! (I will have photos in the morning to show you just how girly she is)

Thought I'd leave you with one of my latest Chelsea photos as inspiration! ;)

New Bear - Malani

Well, the attempt to use eyes with sculptured eyelids didn't really work, so i ditched the idea for now. I will have to use a completely different pattern i think. I do like to make things more difficult for myself :P

This is the little bear i tried the eyes on. She has turned out quite nicely despite the last minute change of heart over her eyes! It was ridiculously hard to get the pink bow by her ear to actually look pink in the photos for some reason. Maybe early morning lighting in my backyard is not ideal for pink on brown contrast... who knows. But i did get some nice shots. Her full listing : www.emmasbears.bearpile.com

Chelsea was as helpful as ever, firstly getting into my sewing box and spreading embroidery thread all over herself. Then trying to climb through the cat door to get to me as i was taking photos outside! She's getting more and more mobile each day!
