Four new postcards

Germany

USA

Russia

and Poland

The latest postcards to arrive in my letterbox thanks to postcrossing.com ...

My mohair arrived!!!

I LOVE ordering new mohair. And i haven't done it in soooooo long. I'd managed to get my stock levels down to an all time low - so figured it was time for some new materials to work with.

Jim at bearycheap.com was amazing to work with, and chose some lovely 'guinea pig appropriate' pieces for me too. Along with some more vibrant and fun pieces. (I'm loving that blue/green one - it was called 'Jade').

So stay tuned for some new creations in some new colours! :D

Oh, and the rest of the day i spent creating a new outfit for Chelsea in this amazing rainbow butterfly cotton fabric on a black background. It was only a 1/2m piece (cause it was stupidly expensive), and i managed to make this little outfit out of it. With no pattern!

There wasn't much left of the fabric at the end either! :P

Surprise delivery for Miss Chelsea

Chelsea and i were rolling around in the lounge room this morning playing games with her fish-shaped teether, when the parcel delivery lady arrived and dropped off a small package. I recognised the sender immediately (an incredible lady who lives in the US, and who has sent Chelsea a decent collection of toys over the last 8 months of her life so far!).

Chelsea helped me unwrap it, and inside was the sweetest little hand-spun and knitted cashmere teddy! Chelsea (being as polite as any 8 month old), snatched him from my hands and started examining his little tag. So we removed that, then she proceeded to try and crawl while still holding him. I let her play with him for a while, then tried to take a photo of him to put with this post - when she decided that she wanted him back again! :P

I think he's a hit Miss Julie! And thank you so so much! You are too generous!

New Guinea Pig Family - Cherry and babies

So these are the gorgeous little piggies i mentioned in my post last night. Mumma guinea pig is named Cherry, and her babies are called Popcorn and Pip. (Popcorn is the caramel one, while Pip has the darker eye patches). I had so much fun making this gorgeous little family!

Slightly obsessive about all things GUINEA PIG

Ok. I've always known it. But sometimes its a lot more obvious. I have a fairly obsessive nature. Once i get 'into' something, i fall hard!!!

For example: I got really excited about jewellery making at one point. But instead of just buying a couple of little packs of beads and some earring hooks, I spent over $300 on Swarovski Crystal beads in a multitude of colours, and had to get sterling silver findings so i could make these... I got a bit carried away and made dozens of them, thinking they'd sell well on etsy. But a year later i think I'd sold one pair! The rest ended up making really awesome birthday presents for all my friends and family. They could probably all join the 'rainbow earring brigade'!

So the latest obsession is my little mohair guinea pigs (if you hadn't noticed). And before that is was the polymer clay (which i must say i am not finished with - the guinea pig idea just snuck in the side and has temporarily taken over!).

Today i whipped up two SWEET little baby piggies to go with a full size mumma. I only just got them finished, and its night time here right now, so no photos till the morning. So I thought I'd post a photo of my four sweet piggy girls when they were only a day old over three years ago. These are the same guinea pigs that I mentioned in my earlier listings - Bundy, Sophie, Custard and Sweep. My husband and I actually got to see each one born, quite by chance too. (I even had to help the mumma piggy with Custard as they all came so quickly, she got distracted and didn't clean up the membrane from Custards face after she was born.)

New Guinea Pigs - Jasper and Milo

I finished two more sweet little mohair guinea pigs today. This time they are two boys - Jasper and Milo. (I have no idea why these two looked like boys to me... just happened that way. I wonder what would happen if I put them in the same 'cage' as Patch and Clover... :P)

I got some lovely photos of them both out in our backyard. For some reason the grass looked an odd shade of green. Almost a blue-green. But i think that was just because we were in the shade... Jasper has the lovely long wiggly fur - kind of like a Texel or an Alpaca breed guinea pig. While Milo is more of the traditional smooth-coat tri-colour.

I have some big ideas for little baby guinea pigs too. So stay tuned for more cuteness!

Something Fun

This was something I did back in January, but Carmelina from Conversational Carmelina suggested an idea that reminded me of these photos. So i thought - why not pop them up too.

The first image is Chelsea's 12 week ultrasound scan taken on the 6th Jan 2009. She was 6cm long!

The second image is Chelsea taken on the 6th Jan 2010. She was 66cm long! How much difference a year can make!
